(Established 2009) This is the history of our Year 7 and 8 classes in Huia 1 at The Gardens School, NZ. We wrote for ourselves, our families and friends and for anyone who wanted to know what life was like at our school. From 2009 to 2013, Huia 1's teacher was Mrs Vincent. 1n 2014, classes changed and Huia 1 became Miss Murphy's room, with Mrs Vincent teaching on Thursday afternoons in Term 1. This blog has now ceased regular publication but is a record of our time together in Huia 1.

2011 How Does Our Garden Grow?
Here's what our class garden looks like after 6 weeks of neglect.

Actually, it's been growing really well over the holidays. The rain last weekend certainly helped.
The sweet peas have almost finished flowering and are starting to die back. There are lots of sweet pea pods so I hope we can collect seeds to plant again at the end of the year.
The swan plant has lots of flowers and 'swan' seed pods on it, too. There are a few monarch butterflies around as well.
The olive tree has a bit of a lean and needs staking. There are, however, small olives starting to appear.
The geraniums and impatiens are colourful and should continue to flower for a while longer yet.
There are quite a few weeds coming through so it looks like some volunteers will have a job to do on the first day back.
Looking forward to seeing you all again soon - and good luck to all our last year's Year 8s for your first day at high school.
